The Mornington Chasers Regents Park Grand Prix 10K Winter Series (Sunday, 5th January 2014)

A close running friend persuaded me last year to sign up for a local 10k run. As I had not met up with Anna Cleary for quite sometimes and I was taking a month break from running long distances (Marathon) in the month of January I decided to join her. The last time I ran a 10k was in September 2012 (also with Anna). Anna inspired me to keep on running ever since Day 1. We were suppose to go out to run amazing New York City in 2009 together, which did not happen for her, so I ended up running on my own. Although she was still suffering from continuous injuries she insisted on running at a steady pace.

Running along the course..........

The Mornington Chasers Regents Park 10k took place at 9.15am. The race took place in Regent's Park, very close to The Hub, which was signposted very well in the park. The nearest Park gate is Monkey Gate and the nearest Underground station to the start is Baker Street.

The race is ran along an accurately measured 10k course consisting of 3 laps of Tarmac footpaths and roadways within the Park. The course was just about flat throughout with no noticeable inclines.

The START and the FINISH Line....

The Start and Finish was located on the footpath a short distance from the Hub. We were informed at the start to be careful of slippery areas along the course as it had been frosty earlier in the morning, to keep on the left hand side of the pathways and to take particular care with other park users, including dog walkers!

There was one drink station located adjacent to the start - which meant water was available at 2 and 4 miles. Water was also available at the finish including Bananas, chocolate biscuits, mince pies etc.

Me and Anna completed today's 10k run in 1 Hour, 7 Minutes & 48 Seconds..... Unfortunately Mornington Chasers do not distribute medals out to their runners so we were unable to take a finish photo together with our medals.
