Bedfont Lakes

Ok, Richard Tovey sure did let us down by not turning up for parkrun Gunnersbury as promised this morning. Last minute decision made me divert back to local Bedfont Lakes parkrun.

Having exchanged a few messages with my colleague Kevin Brown, he decided he'd run muddy Bedfont Lakes with me.

Race Briefing.............

Turnout was 112 runners.... and I even got to run alongside Kevin and Sarah Bryan (Ex Colleague at Geodis LHR). It was Kevin's 2nd parkrun and Sarah's 1st parkrun. Kevin decided to do a final sprint crossing the FINISH Line... Not sure where that came from!!!!

You both did great on not stopping throughout - Well done to you both!

My damp laces got undone several times and I had to keep on stopping to attend to it.

The wet and muddy paths did not get to us, we ran through the puddles and reached the FINISH Line in approx. 35:52

Wait for me..................................

Parkrun  #240 - Saturday, 11th January 2014 (Finish Time : 31:57)

Today was my 9th parkrun and the first parkrun of the year for me. My time was 31:57 and I came 109th out of 150 runners.

Weather was perfect but the course was muddy with big puddles dotted around the course. I ran through the muddy terrains and jumped over the puddles, I was trying to look the part but I was running a long with big soggy trainers and making nice footprints in all the muddy areas!! You wanna know where I ran, I've left a nice trail behind me.

Julie (Sister of Barbara from Work), Rima (Aka Tyre Lady), Kevin and Me after parkrun

Kevin Brown, my colleague at work decided to run his first parkrun this weekend. Kevin signed up for parkrun last year and had been oohhhing and arhhing about doing a run one day...... and today he finally did his first 5k at Bedfont Lakes parkrun. Unfortunately he started 2 minutes after the race had started as he arrived at the wrong entrance to the park for the run.  I finally caught up with him as he came through the finish line in 38:08. He was looking very strong....

After collecting and handing his finishing chip and barcode to the marshals for scanning, I introduced him to a few of my running friends.

Big 'Well Done' Kevin'!

Before the START - Announcing Ian Cockram's 250th parkrun!

It was a very good day.... One of the guys at parkrun 'Ian Cockram' was celebrating his 250th parkrun. There were balloons flying around and  we had cakes at the finish. We don't always get cakes at a running event so this was pleasant surprise and I love celebrating at these events because it spurs me to keep on going.

Ian cutting the Cake!!

parkrun Cake - Yummy!

Bacon & Egg Sandwich / Tea

After the run Tyre Lady, Wayne and I decided to pop over to the Cafe at Ashford with the rest of the parkrun crew for breakfast. We ordered egg and bacon Sandwiches and a nice hot cuppa tea.

It was a perfect morning and I look forward to the next run!
